Calvin Harris & Nero, Tine Tempah & DC Breaks, Massive Attack & She Is Danger

Nero has done a remix of the Calvin Harris track “You Used to Hold Me” and it is wicked little track. Its that typical Nero dubstep sound that is becoming very familiar together with Calvin Harris vocals and electro sounds. You don’t need to know much more Calvin Harris + Nero = Big Tune

Calvin Harris – You Used to Hold Me (Nero Remix)

Next a track which I sure will be popular its a DC breaks remix of Tine Tempah’s new track “Pass Out”. This is a drum and bass take on the track . The track has been beefed up alot and given a much grimier beat and the drop towards the end is just mad, so much energy.

Tinie Tempah – Pass Out (DC Breaks)

Got a new She is Danger remix of Massive Attacks track “Girl I Love You”. I am a fan of these girls, they make wicked remixes and this one is no different. Its that chilled trip hop sound of Massive Attack injected with sub frequencies. Sounds absolutely wicked and always look forward to more tracks from them.

Wiley & Herve, Miike Snow & Sinden, Donae’o & Shy FX

Got another track from Herve here, he is really churning out the tracks at the moment. This is his remix of Wiley’s “Never be Your Woman”. It a pretty decent track, not mind blowing, its been given a bit more of an electro edge than before. Sure to a popular mix this with Herve’s following but the one to watch out for me is the Shy FX remix, its my pick of them. Thanks to NME for the download

Wiley – Never Be Your Woman (Herve Remix)

Next got a remix of Miike Snow track “Silvia” by Sinden. I find Sinden remixes to be a little hit and miss for me, this one is definite hit. The original track is great piece of music, but Sinden reworked it into a track for the clubs. The track has a funky beat behind it now and a lot of the vocals have been cut, but the what’s left really works.

Miike Snow – Silvia (Sinden Remix)

Last one here is the Donae’o track Party Hard remixed by Shy FX. Usually I hate everything that Donae’o  produces, but this track is top notch and what is even better is the remixes one from Skream and one from Shy FX.  This track just has so much bass, it is almost excessive, almost! The track is just deep and I love it, check this vid for the Shy FX remix.

Mt Eden Dubstep

First came across this guy when his track was featured on the Holloaks Later programme. Heard a few tracks from him then and was really impressed. He has carried on remixing and producing and has made some great dubstep. The stand out track for me is his remix of Imogen Heap’s “Hide and Seek”, this remix blows rusko’s attempt out the water, this version is much truer to the original, which I like because the original is an amazing piece of music.

Imogen Heap – Hide and Seek (Mt Eden Dubstep Remix)

Then the second piece of music of his that I really liked was his dubstep version of  Delirium and Sarah McLaughlin track “Silence”. The original vocals on this are made for a dubstep track like this, I can’t get enough of it.

Delirium & Sarah McLaughlin – Silence (Mt Eden Dubstep remix)

Last one that I really like was his remix of Saeglopur by Sigor Ros. As you might imagine this is a very chilled out track with that unique Sigor Ros sound. Then the MT Eden influence comes in with the bass kicks and dub sounds, its a very cool track.

If you like these tracks there are lots more on his youtube page here.

Twizzle & Rusko

First track here is from Twizzle with “Skydiving” and the Green Money remix. I don’t know what category I would put this track into, its got a UK funky beat but its been beefed up bass. And that little hook “I’m so fly I feel like I’m Skydiving” is infectious, I just can’t get it out of my head.

Twizzle – Skydiving (Green Money Remix)

Second is a remix of the ever popular Rusko track “Da Cali Anthem” by NONEWYORK. This remix has a bit of a funky vibe to it as well and I really like it. I think the original from Rusko is top notch, but I still don’t have a good quality version of it and this is acting as a very good back up. There are nice changes in this from the original and if you like that I really recommend getting this.

Ellie Goulding Vid & Remix

Pretty cool little vid for the “new” Ellie Goulding Single Starry Eyed coming out in February

This is a mix from Russ Chimes giving the track a bit of a dancey edge, with the brilliant use of some classic house piano. I would expect to hear this mix if your on a night out.  I like this mix but the Dexcell drum and bass I love check out the soundcloud link below to hear it, this will hopefully be getting a release so no download at the moment.

Classics done 2010 style!

First up we have the classic garage anthem RIP Groove – Double 99 remixed and brought bang up to date by Pirate Soundsystem. You all know the original is a banger and so is this, everything you love about the original is there it has just been kicked by 2010 with fresh bassline and a few little tweaks, all it really needed. Well done Pirate Soundsystem.

Double 99 – RIP Groove (Pirate Soundsystem Remix)

Second is an absolute killer remix from TLGB, The Legendary Graham Bond of Stardust’s “Music Sounds Better with You”. I love this track, vocals still sound great and I love how the beat has been cut and chopped in this remix, giving it that jackin house feel in places. Then bassline kicks in with that dirty electro sound.

Stardust – Music Sounds Better With You (TLGB remix)

Final track is from Coldfeet called “Billie Jeans” remixed by Taku, and guess what its an MJ cover/remix. I was dubious of this at first, but how wrong was I, this is an absolute stormer. Sure it would kill a dance floor, big electro bassy house vibes. Heavy bassline, beat and everything, the track blows me away.

Dan Black, Kid Cudi, Lupe Fiasco & Consequence

Little update on the music coming from the US that I’m liking at the moment. First track is courtesy of Dan Black and Kid Cudi called “Symphonies”. I think I’m just a sucker for a good sample but I love this track, and I becoming a bigger fan of Kid Cudi every time I listen to something new from him. Not heard of Dan Black before, he’s a UK electro pop artist, I might check out more of him, but Kid Cudi has done him a lot of favours on this track, lots of new fans I suspect.

Dan Black – Symphonies (feat. Kid Cudi)

Next up something from Lupe Fiasco called “Resurrection”. This track is being released as part of the aid effort for Haiti. He and other artists are releasing track unreleased tracks on the Music for Relief Website. So if you want to show your appreciation for this track and support the Haiti relief effort donate to the website and download other tracks.

Lupe Fiasco – Resurection

Last here got a cool new track from Consequence featuring Asher Roth called “Childish Games”. This the kind of hip hop I really like, proper chilled out where its all about the lyrics. I think Consequence is always an underrated rapper and deserves some more recognition, but he is probably still doing alright, so I won’t feel too sorry for him. Also I like Asher Roth on a track with out gimmicks, sounds good.

Skism Mix and Foregin Beggers Remixes

There is a massive remix package coming from the Foreign Beggars set for release in February on Never Say Die. This includes dubstep remixes from SkisM and Excision and Breaks/bass remixes from Baobinga and Affinity.

I love the SkisM remix of “Get a Bit More”, its got some real deep dubstep sounds. Love the MCing/rapping on this track, these guys have got the balance of vocal and beats and bass perfect. I love this dubstep version.

I have to mention the Affintiy remix of “No holds Barred” is wicked. I think this describes it perfectly “futuristic slice of Sci-Fi Funk which juxtaposes the pin point raps of the Beggars over ‘80s inspired key changes and cinematic FX. Totally unique and utterly brilliant.

Defiantly check out the other remixes in  February, they are all pretty tight. I can’t wait to hear more Foreign Beggars.

With the release SkisM is giving away big hour long dubstep mix. SkisM is an emerging name from the harder end of dubstep, so expect deep bass from this mix.

Taxman Revenge of a Drunken Fool E.P

Taxman is back for 2010 with new E.P full of Dirty drum and bass sounds. Coming out on Ganja recordings in February this is one you need in your life. If you like your bass fast and filthy you will love this.

First track “Harry’s revenge” has an immense bassline and some signature Taxman sounds with an almighty sample from the film classic Dirty Harry.

Second track “Look What You’ve Done” kicks off with these spooky sounds, then turns into this track with jungle breaks chopped up with harder driven bass. I’ve got to say those breaks make the track for me, just a wicked sound.

Third one “Drunken Fool” is some down and dirty drum and bass, with some little melodies thrown in to lighten it in places, but this is for the guys who like the gully bass.

Last track “If Only” finishes off with a bit of breakbeat, don’t know much about breaks but I like this track, nice intro into some deep bass, sounding pretty old skool.

If you like dirty dancefloor bass and big drum and bass records check this E.P out when it s released in February.
